Did you know that Kenyan children have never seen a lion?
Known as the kingdom of wildlife, Kenya has over 30 national parks and animal conservation areas. African elephants, lions, giraffes, and monkeys are just some of the animals that inhabit these parks. While there are temporary accommodations for tourists within the national parks, humans are not allowed to live there to protect the animals. Those who manage the parks are also strictly prohibited from harming the animals. Kenya truly is a kingdom of animals.
However, despite being a kingdom of wildlife, most Kenyan children never get to see lions. Why is that?
To enter the wildlife parks, visitors must pay expensive admission fees. Additionally, within the park, visitors must ride expensive safari cars to view the animals. While foreign tourists can comfortably watch the wildlife, poor Kenyan children cannot freely enter the parks to see the animals.
Children of the Maasai tribe who live in the Kenyan wilderness can see lions, but those who were born in urban areas and have not visited the national parks cannot see lions even if they want to.
