Do you know what the laziest animal in the world is?
Some of you might think it's the koala, but there is an even lazier animal living in the tropical rainforests of Congo. It's the sloth.
Sloths look similar to monkeys, but they are incredibly slow and lazy compared to them. They sleep for up to 18 hours a day. Considering that a day has 24 hours, sloths are only awake for about 6 hours a day.
Sloths are arboreal and nocturnal animals, meaning they move around at night and spend their days hanging upside down in trees. They use their long claws to move between branches and eat leaves and fruits.
During the rainy season, moss grows on their fur, which turns their body green. They usually have brown fur to protect themselves from predators.
Sloths are not good at walking on the ground, but they do come down from trees occasionally, and it's mainly for defecation.
However, they only do so once every week or two.
They are truly lazy animals, aren't they?
